D.Arte: La bellezza dell'imperfezione, Claudia Catarzi | ph Giulia Lenzi

Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Claudia Catarzi has danced with international companies such as Dorky Park/Constanza Macras, Virgilio Sieni, Roberto Castello, Sasha Waltz & Guests, and Batsheva Dance Company. An independent artist since 2011, her works including Qui, ora, 40.000 centimetri quadrati, and Sul Punto have received numerous awards and been presented in more than twenty countries.

She has collaborated with artists such as Ambra Senatore, Julyen Hamilton, Michal Mualem, and Claudia Caldarano. Among her most recent productions are A set of timings and Posare il tempo, international co-productions supported by the Tremplin network and several French CDCNs. She was named “Dancer of the Year 2017” by Tiago Bartolomeu Costa for Jahrbuch Tanz. She is currently an associate artist at CDCN La Manufacture in Bordeaux Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Through the observation of human postures both those depicted in artworks and those adopted by visitors the artist creates small handcrafted objects inspired by these bodily “witnesses,” which serve as anchor points for a choreographic journey. La bellezza dell'imperfezione (The beauty of imperfection) builds a bridge between contemplation and participation, making the dialogue between living matter and exhibited art tangible and shared.

The project is the winner of the D.Arte 2025/2026 open call, launched by Oriente Occidente in collaboration with Mart – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, aimed at exploring the dialogue between choreography and visual arts within museum spaces.
