The second chapter of Absent Bodies shifts the focus from the concept of ‘absence’ to that of ‘emptiness’.

Emptiness as the condition of possibility. If everything is full, compact, and sculpted, there is no change. Where there is no space to lose oneself, we do not seek a new path.

At a time when collective narratives are breaking down, cultural references are weak, and symbols seem to lack depth of meaning, emptiness is the loss of direction that we need to acknowledge, a condition to be inhabited, because it reawakens the meaning of finding oneself, both alone and with others.

Emptiness, in fact, is also a space for relationships, a void within which we can move in order to meet one another.

Emptiness as the sensation of flight, where defying gravity is a physical act: emptiness as weight that is not felt, as contact with the earth that is severed, as a loss of balance; an emptiness that makes bodies vulnerable and, for this reason, renders them human.

Emptiness as a time of transition, that which is ‘no longer’ but not yet ‘to come’, that which is no longer merely memory, nor yet the future.

Emptiness like the silence that gives life to music, emptiness like the space that allows dance to move.
