"A Scuola di prove" is a special project conceived by the Abbondanza/Bertoni company and co-produced by the Oriente Occidente Festival. Michele Abbondanza and Antonella Bertoni, partners in creation since the early 1990s, have explored themes related to the language of the body and dramaturgy, focusing on the dynamics of couple and group relationships, from the distant *Terramara* to the more recent trilogy *Ho male all’altro*.
"A Scuola di prove" introduces further investigations into the theme of exchange and dialogue, but with a new approach. The project is divided into three parts: *Prima della prima* (presentation), *Progetto POIESIS* (performance), and *Dopo la prima* (reflection). In Rovereto, the audience will see the result of the first section of the project. This involves a performance born from a stimulating deviation from a typical workshop: the seminar's themes are those that Abbondanza and Bertoni's company has been working on in preparation for the 2007 creation, *Progetto POIESIS*. As Abbondanza explains, "It’s a return to pure movement, studying its mechanics and anatomy. A research process that is revealing unexpected nuances. It’s work on balance and imbalance, the vivisection of movement, and its decomposition. We feel the need for a strong transmission to the audience beyond mere illustration and narration."
The seminar aims to combine training with involvement in the creative process. Following this, Abbondanza and Bertoni’s company will continue to work independently until the presentation of the new performance in 2007. However, a second meeting is already planned for early 2008 with the students involved in Rovereto: a two-day session of reflection, as the two creators say, to analyze the 2007 creation in light of the seminar conducted at Oriente Occidente.
