Presented this morning at a press conference on the 39th floor of Palazzo Lombardia, PRESENTI ACCESSIBILI. Workshops, meetings, performances on performing arts and disability the three-day event scheduled from 27 to 29 April in Milan, in the spaces of Fabbrica del Vapore, Palazzo Lombardia and Teatro Carcano.
A unique event in Italy, the first of its kind, which brings to the fore a cultural, political and civil instance: the accessibility of the world of culture and art to people with disabilities, both as artists and as audiences. Conceived and organised by Oriente Occidente, the Ministero della Cultura and Regione Lombardia, in collaboration with Al.Di.Qua. Artists, the first professional association of artists with disabilities.
Between 2018 e il 2023 Oriente Occidente is the italian partner of Europe Beyond Access - an EU co-funded project, the largest programme in the world on arts and disability - together with other important European institutions (British Council - UK, Onassis Cultural Centre - GR, Holland Dance Festival - NL, Kampnagel - DE, Skånes Dansteater - SE e Per.Art - RS).
In recent years, awareness on these issues has grown and the Italian network Europe Beyond Access 2021-2023 has been built, to which 47 realities of the Italian cultural context have signed a memorandum that invites the cultural institutions to discuss the issues of accessibility and inclusion in the performing arts in order to generate awareness, disseminate knowledge and experiences of good practices, encourage greater participation and leadership of artists and cultural operators with disabilities.
During the event artists, artists and experts will share their point of view in a series of talks and workshops dedicated to professionals. A true academy for the able-bodied.
Anna Consolati, general director of Oriente Occidente, is the curator with the collaboration of AL.Di.Qua. Artists.
The programme includes talks, laboratories and workshops for those who work in the cultural sector and intend to question themselves on accessibility issues. The audience is involeved to an evening of entertainment, with the show TRIPLE BILL an unprecedented triplet that presents two of the Mixed Doubles – Feeling Good by Diego Tortelli, a co-production Oriente Occidente and FDN – Aterballetto, and Fine Lines by Roser López Espinosa for Skånes Dansteater – and the famous performance by Trisha Brown Set and reset reseted by Candoco Dance Company.
