Mediterranean means “in the midst of lands.” Precisely in the midst of 46 thousand kilometers of coastline between those of southern Europe, northwest Asia and northern Africa, inhabited by 450 million people, who share a view of the sea and some distant origins. A multitude of peoples, of customs, of cultures, of seas. Over the years, geostrategic balances have transformed the Mediterranean into a space far wider than its natural borders. Therefore, in an attempt to tell the story, we want to try to give that “mare nostrum” that has accompanied us for many centuries a new name: Mediterraneans. Mediterranei is a plural name. A name that returns the fragmentary nature of a place of diversity. A name that no longer wants to tell only what is “in between the lands” but to include as many of them as possible, representing a point of encounter and exchange, an open basin composed of countless intertwined roads.
